How does the calculation work?
The government measures the amount of dust particles and air pollution at many different measurement stations in the Netherlands. By determining the flow rate of an air handling unit (AHU), an estimate can be made of how many particles (Pa) pass through the airflow of the AHU. The Dust Holding Capacity (filter efficiency) of the filter determines the percentage of particles that are captured. Based on this, we can determine how the resistance of the filter will increase over its lifetime and what the impact will be on energy consumption. We then map out all cost components over the filter’s lifetime.
The calculation includes:
- Purchase costs of the filter
- Energy costs in kWh
- Filter replacement costs

We have created a sample comparison between the Nanowave filter and a standard FEN7 filter. This comparison shows the costs of both filters over a period of 3 years, including purchase costs, replacement costs, and energy consumption (kWh). The comparison shows that the Nanowave filter provides significant energy savings of 61% in the first year, and by the third year (despite increasing resistance and pollution), it still provides a 33% saving. View the total savings per year in the calculation example, which you can download for free. Want to know more or have questions? Contact us.
