Aviko Rixona successfully uses Vlint products throughout the process
Delivering a clean, cleaned batch of potatoes is what every agricultural entrepreneur strives for. So is Aviko Rixona, a company active in the potato processing industry. At its production site in Warffum, Rixona processes potatoes into dried potato granules. Vlint drying cloths help in this process. These drying cloths are made of technical felt and dry potatoes after they have been washed. Adherent moisture disappears, reducing the risk of leaks and keeping the Aviko Rixona plant cleaner.
One of the largest potato processors in the world.
Aviko Rixona processes potatoes into dried potato granules and dried potato flakes that are further processed in the snack industry, for example, for potato chips or other salty snacks. Rixona is part of Aviko, which has grown since its founding in 1962 to become a European market leader in fresh, frozen and dried potato products. Today, Aviko is also one of the four largest potato processors in the world, operating in more than 110 countries.
Collaboration starts with filtration issue
The collaboration between Aviko Rixona and Vlint was triggered by a request for help from Aviko Rixona: sticky dust particles were causing the dedusting filters to clog up, causing problems with dust emissions. Aviko entered into talks with Vlint, which was followed by the beginning of the collaboration. With its experience and knowledge, Vlint was able to effectively deploy filter caps with a coating, which ensured that the product would no longer stick.
Over the years, the partnership has only expanded further. By now, all filter installations - both air treatment units and dedusting units - at the Aviko Rixona factory in Warffum are fitted with Vlint filter elements. Vlint also provides BFM sleeves and the new ‘"Easy to Recycle" filter will soon be introduced at the plant. Vlint's drying cloths are also being used successfully.
Aviko Rixona uses drying cloths in the potato washing plant. The potatoes come into the factory, after which they are washed and cleaned of sand and other dirt. Next, the potatoes must be dried. Vlint's drying cloths are used for this drying process. This creates a high-quality dry product that can be further processed at the factory into dried potato granules. Aviko Rixona experiences fewer leaks thanks to the drying cloths, and both the product and the factory are cleaner.
Reliable solution made of Felt
Vlint drying cloths are made of felt composed of polyester fibers and polyester support fabric. This makes the drying cloths in the rag dryer instantly remove moisture from the outside of the potatoes. Not only that: the cloth is odorless, does not shed and has a soft texture. The latter ensures that the crops are not damaged during drying.
For the Vlint drying cloths, we work closely with the German company BWF Envirotec. This company is one of the few companies in the world capable of producing natural felt with the traditionally demanded, moisture-absorbing properties required for drying cloths. The high-quality basic felt (seam felt) is then processed by Vlint in its own production facility in Lelystad into an end product in various sizes.
Vlint supplies the right materials in a timely manner and ensures that all products are kept in stock. Thus, there is little downtime: in fact, elements are always replaced in a timely manner.
Flint products throughout the process
Vlint's drying cloths run 24/7 at the Aviko Rixona plant. They last about three months, after which they are replaced. Vlint supplies the right materials on time and ensures that all products are kept in stock, so Aviko Rixona has little to worry about. As a result, there is little downtime: elements are always replaced on time. This saves time and prevents pollution caused by broken filters.
Because Vlint takes care of and thinks along with the entire process, various products are now used in a versatile way at the Aviko Rixona factory in Warffum. From the filters in the filter cabinets to the drying cloths in the drying process.
